Polling For Harris Bottoms Out After Convention: Report

Democrat presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris has gotten some disastrous news.

It was anticipated that, like just about every other candidate in the history of presidential politics, she would get a bounce after the Democrat National Convention but that never happened.

She still maintains a lead over former President Donald Trump in the polls but it remains virtually unchanged from her pre-convention lead of 50 percent – 46 percent.

“The race between them remains close, with no overall bounce in support for Harris out of her nominating convention, albeit with a wider gender gap,” Langer Research Associates president Gary Langer said. “Trump, too, was bounce-free after his convention in July, indicating the locked-in nature of their highly polarized contest as it enters its final two months.”

“That said, not all issues are created equal; to the extent the focus is on the economy, Trump benefits – not a surprise given the 40-year high in inflation that occurred on Biden’s watch,” he said.

Pollster Frank Luntz says that her honeymoon phase is done with the contest for the presidency still neck and neck and now she has to have a real campaign and real answers.

He appeared on “CNN News Central” where he started with some harsh words for former President Donald Trump.

“I want to emphasize this to every viewer who thinks I‘m anti-Trump or anti-Harris, if you talk about things that voters don‘t care about, they‘re not going to vote for you. Donald Trump is already talking about this election being stolen. You can’t steal something that you gave away,” the pollster said.

“I’ve never seen the candidates [sic] more missed the mark than Trump has. His advertising is exceptional, it‘s very explicit and very clear,” he said. “But in terms of he himself, he‘s all over the map and he deserves the fact that he’s been falling.”

But just as supporters of the vice president may have been taking comfort in his words he hit them with reality.

“But again, I have to give you one caveat and then I‘ll be quiet. He‘s actually stopped falling. Even though they had a pretty strong convention last week, it looks like the Harris boomlet has reached its peak — with her having roughly a three-point advantage,” he said. “I remind you that that was the advantage that Hillary Clinton had over Donald Trump on Election Day 2016 and he still beat her in the electoral college. This election is way too close to call.”
