Pence agrees to protective barrier at VP debate with Kamala Harris

The vice presidential debate will look a little different than expected, and here’s why

The vice presidential debate will look a little different than expected, and here’s why.

Vice President Mike Pence – along with the moderator and opponent Kamala Harris – will be shielded by a plexiglass barrier during Wednesday night’s faceoff in Utah in hopes to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The vice president’s team was cleared by CDC Director Robert Redfield to participate in the debate after he signed a memo stating Pence posed no risk by participating in person.

“After a detailed discussion with Dr. Shonau about his investigation and the serial negative testing results of the Vice President, the CDC concludes from a public health standpoint, it is safe for the Vice President to participate in the upcoming Vice-Presidential debate,” Redfield wrote.

Following President Trump’s positive coronavirus test last Thursday, the stakes surrounding the vice presidential debate were at an all-time high.

Is it safe for Biden to participate?

Are the risks greater than the reward?

Pence, who has tested negative for COVID-19 several times over the last week, found himself at odds with the Commission on Presidential Debates earlier this week over its decision to implement barriers surrounding the two candidates and the moderator, according to the New York Post.

After the decision was announced, Marc Short, Pence’s chief of staff, told the Washington Post that the team viewed the barriers as medically unnecessary, arguing that the candidates were both tested daily and would be separated by 12 feet on stage.

“If she wants it, she’s more than welcome to surround herself with Plexiglas if that makes her feel more comfortable. It’s not needed,” he told the newspaper.

But, after continued requests from Team Harris, Pence’s team succumbed.

While barriers were not used at the first presidential debate in Cleveland last week, the idea first gained traction over the weekend when South Carolina Senate hopeful Jaime Harrison brought his own clear barrier to protect himself during his debate against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), according to the Post.

And with Trump still fighting off the coronavirus, it remains unclear what changes will be made to the second presidential debate, scheduled

BIDEN: We Can Stay Home During COVID Because “Some Black Woman” Stacked the Grocery Shelf

Biden was quickly roasted on Twitter for his comments

President Trump has proven he is the embodiment of a true leader after contracting the coronavirus while performing the duties of Commander in Chief, instead of keeping himself isolated in a bubble in the White House.

Vice President Joe Biden, on the other hand, has locked himself in his basement for months, leaving for mostly brief media appearances where he rarely takes questions from the press.

In a now-viral video clip, Biden credited people’s ability to stay sequestered in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic because “some black woman was able to stack the grocery shelf.”

Fox News reported the full version of Biden’s comments:

“And they say, ‘Well, why in the hell would you say that Biden? You just talked about all these difficulties.’ Well, I’ll tell you why. Because the American public, the blinders have been taken off,” Biden told the roundtable attendees. “They’ve all of a sudden seen a hell of a lot clearer. They’re saying, ‘Jeeze, the reason I was able to stay sequestered in my home is because some Black woman was able to stack the grocery shelf. Or a young Hispanic is out there, these dreamers are out there, 60,000 of them acting as first responders and nurses and docs.’ Or all of a sudden people are realizing, ‘My Lord, these people have done so much. Not just Black, White, across the board, have done so much for me. We can do this. We can get things done.’ And I think they’re ready.”

Biden was quickly roasted on Twitter for his comments, with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee pointing out the hypocrisy of the media for ignoring his comments. “He didn’t really say that, did he?” he wrote. “Yes, he did. If @realDonaldTrump said that he’d be called racist. But @POTUS didn’t say it. Joe did & the media won’t say a word about it.”

Trump supporters Diamond and Silk wrote, “Jim Crow Joe Biden is a Bigot and a Racist! Black women are not the only ones stocking shelves amid COVID.”

BUSTED: NYT Reporter Attacks Non-Mask Wearing Republicans, While Not Wearing A Mask

2020 has brought out a level of hypocrisy in liberals such that there needs to be an invention of another word that means “so much hypocrisy” that it makes regular hypocrisy look mild in comparison. Enter, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for the New York Times, Matthew Rosenberg. Rosenberg is also a CNN national security analyst who gained notoriety for his writings promoting the Russiagate hoax to the Trump-hating mainstream media.

In another attempt to bully Republicans and make conservatives look bad, Rosenberg’s efforts backfired. Tweeting from an event for a Republican, he posted a photo of a ‘Trump 2020’ pin alongside a ‘Vote Marjorie’ pin and wrote, “Souvenirs from a night spent packed into a room with Marjorie Taylor Greene and a crowd of her most devoted supporters in Dalton, GA. Masks very much optional – and unworn. As Taylor put it, she’s for ‘the unmasking of America.”

Forced to sit amongst the non-mask-wearing Republicans and Trump supporters who sat in front of a ‘God Bless Our Nation’ flag, Rosenberg expressed his contempt for their behavior. As he furthered the fear-mongering with his tweets, and his “sanctimonious display and attempts to smear Greene and her supporters” there he sat…NOT wearing a mask.

Photos from Green’s campaign account reveal Rosenberg sitting amongst the very crowd he chastises for not wearing a mask, while not wearing a mask. As The National Pulse reports, “The double-standard speaks to the mainstream media’s willingness to peddle blatant lies in an attempt to smear Trump-supporting Republicans” is exactly right.
