Ocasio-Cortez Attends $30k Per Ticket Met Gala in 'Tax the Rich' Dress

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez communicated her cluelessness when it comes to “knowing your audience” at the Met Gala Monday night in New York City. AOC’s dress was all white with bright red lettering which read “TAX THE RICH.”

According to the Associated Press, the cost of a Met Gala ticket is at least $30,000. It’s unclear if the congresswoman purchased her own ticket. However, representatives are also not allowed to accept gifts.

Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News. Perhaps she will be pressured to release information as to where she got the ticket, generally reserved for rich people, in order to publicly show her disdain for rich people.

AOC did not wear a face mask while posing on the carpet as she arrived, but guests were expected to wear masks once inside, and had to be vaccinated. On the red carpet, Ocasio-Cortez discussed a conversation she had with the dress’s designer, Aurora James, around “what is means to be working-class women of color at the Met.”

“And we said, we can’t just play along, but we need to break the fourth wall and challenge some of the institutions, and while the Met is known for its spectacle, we should have a conversation about it” AOC told the red carpet interviewee.
