MTG Says Americans Need 'National Divorce' on President's Day

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took to Twitter ahead of President’s Day to proclaim that the country is too divided to stand and called for a “national divorce.”

“We need a national divorce,” Greene, a Georgia Republican, tweeted on Monday.

“We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government. Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done,” she added.

Over the weekend, Greene opined that Biden is headed for impeachment for various issues, including funneling money to Ukraine while ignoring the ongoing crises in East Palestine, Ohio, and at the southern border.

“Joe Biden will be impeached,” Greene said as she responded to a video where the president announced that Americans would be funding pensions in Ukraine. “Ukraine is NOT the 51st state!!!”

“We are in over $34 TRILLION in debt, borders invaded daily by the thousands, and Americans have been poisoned in East Palestine,” she continued. ENOUGH!!! IMPEACH BIDEN!!!” she added.

Impeachment isn’t likely to result in a conviction, as Democrats control the Senate. But the House certainly could pass articles of impeachment with the GOP majority and that would leave a blemish on Biden’s record. Even Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has discussed it as a means of forcing Biden to do his job.

“That is the last thing to which Biden and Democrats want attention called,” he said. “Border security is an 80–20 issue, favoring not so much Republicans (who are far from uniformly solid on upholding immigration law) as individual candidates and officials who demonstrate seriousness about it, most of whom happen to be Republicans.”

Articles of impeachment were “the only available tool” for Republicans to force the White House to take action.

“Joe Biden is not honoring his oath, and with Congress in a stalemate and state sovereignty nullified, only he can solve the border crisis he’s created. It’s that simple: Either Republicans use the only tool available to them to force Biden’s hand, or they are aiders and abettors,” McCarthy explained. “There is no middle ground.”

The Biden administration has faced significant criticism for its handling of the influx of migrants and refugees at the southern border. Many Republicans have accused the President of ignoring the issue and not doing enough to address the situation.

McCarthy has been among the most vocal critics of the Biden administration on the issue and has suggested that impeachment could be a potential avenue for addressing the situation. However, it is worth noting that the likelihood of impeachment proceedings moving forward is currently unclear, and the issue remains a topic of debate among lawmakers and political analysts.

In a January interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) noted that the president has used his administration “as a tool to wield its own agenda against American citizens,” leading her to ask him directly about the prospect of impeaching Biden.

“Oh, that’s something that will happen,” he said.

“I don’t want to make commitments to you today, because we want the investigations to speak for themselves,” he continued. “We don’t want to do what the Democrats did, which is weaponize the impeachment process for political purposes. We want to let the evidence speak for themselves. You have my commitment on that.”
