SiriusXM radio host and MSNBC columnist Dean Obeidallah has radically escalated the left’s increasingly violent rhetoric telling audiences on Friday that former President Donald J. Trump “must die in prison” in order to serve as a public example to those who would threaten democracy.
Obeidallah fired off the incendiary remark while hosting Friday’s “The Dean Obeidallah Show” with guest journalist Tommy Christopher of Mediaite. Christopher told the host that he believes the media hasn’t shown sufficient “outrage” at GOP presidential hopeful and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley after she suggested that the Democrat incumbent President Joe Biden is unlikely to survive to serve a second full-term in office.
He opined that if Biden quipped that Trump at 77 could potentially “die in prison,” conservative media outlets would respond with fury. However, this misses a key point in that Haley is in no position to cause Biden’s death, whereas Biden is absolutely in a position to cause Trump to be imprisoned, and indeed his Dept. of Justice is taking extraordinary and arguably illegal measures to do so.
Obeidallah leaped to the fore to declare that Trump should die in jail as a result of the allegations against him.
“I think Donald Trump must die in prison because I don’t care if he was 45 years old. You should get life in prison if you attempt a coup, and there should be no chance of parole. I don’t care who it is,” the radio host claimed.
The following day, he doubled down in a post to X, formerly Twitter, writing, “Trump at his rally last night looked very ill. I despise Trump BUT I do NOT want him to die UNTIL he is tried, convicted and sentenced to prison. Trump must die in prison as a warning to all who attempt a coup that you will face same fate. That’s Only way to protect our Republic.”

He further confirmed proudly that he was the so-called “liberal host” cited by Mediaite in an article covering the controversial exchange. As noted by Newsmax, when Trump was interviewed by Tucker Carlson in August, the Tucker On X host asked Trump: “It started with protests against you and then it moved to impeachment twice and now indictment. Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.” Trump responded, “They’re savage animals. They are people that are sick, really sick.”
