By now, it is abundantly clear that Twitter a) is run by leftists; and b) Twitter’s left-wing editors and managers are hypocrites who literally pick and choose what they view as inappropriate posts based primarily on political and cultural preferences.
Case in point: The platform allows some of the vilest, anti-LGBTQ governments and leaders to have a voice but will punish a conservative Republican lawmaker and a female to boot for making an LGBTQ-related statement supporting of female sports.
As Red State points out:
On Monday, Hartzler’s personal Twitter account (@VickyHartzlerMO) was suspended for purportedly violating Twitter’s “hateful conduct policy.” The tweet in question read: “Women’s Sports are for Women, not men pretending to be women.”
Hartzler recently released an ad (referenced in the tweet in question) addressing the issue of transgender athletes — particularly transwomen participating in women’s sports.
“I ran and coached girl’s track, and I won’t look away while woke liberals destroy women’s sports,” she said.
Oops. Hateful conduct. ‘Off to Twitter Jail with you!’
“You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease. We also do not allow accounts whose primary purpose is inciting harm towards others on the basis of these categories,” says Twitter’s policy, which notes that Hartlzer can only get out of Twitter Jail if she deletes her post.
Never mind that woke leftists are “inciting harm” against women’s sports in general through their promotion of biological men competing in all-female competitions.
As reported by KOMU-TV, Hartzler’s campaign responded.
“Vladimir Putin is a murderous psychopath who invaded a sovereign nation causing death and destruction, and is currently allowed to tweet. Yet, Twitter believes the bigger threat is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee saying women’s sports are for women. It’s shameful, utterly ridiculous, and a horrible abuse of censorship by big tech giants to stifle free speech,” her campaign said in a statement.
The campaign added Hartzler will not delete the tweet and Hartzler “will not back down to the woke mob or big tech giants.”
“Hartzler joins fellow Missouri Congressman Billy Long (also vying for the US Senate seat) in the Twitter Suspension Club. Long was hit with a suspension last month for a tweet asserting that the 2020 Election was stolen,” Red State notes.
Other female competitors, past and present, have also lashed out at the left’s destruction of women’s sports.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” in late December, Cynthia Millen said she stepped down from officiating USA Swimming meets after 30 years because she said she can’t just sit and watch as female swimmers are “thrown under the bus” by “biological” male competitors.
“The fact is that swimming is a sport in which bodies compete against bodies. Identities do not compete against identities,” Millen said in response to transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas destroying records by competing in women’s events.
“It’s horrible,” Millen told guest host Sean Duffy. “The statement for women then is you do not matter, what you do is not important, and little girls are going to be thrown under the bus by all of this.”
