Left-Wing Writer for The Atlantic Refuses to Acknowledge She Was Wrong About Hunter Biden Laptop

The left-wing media has been exposed as being complicit in the cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the weeks before the 2020 election in a desperate, sycophantic attempt to shield Papa Joe Biden from the fallout and help him mutter and stumble his way into the Oval Office.

Some outlets have issued timid excuses while others like The New York Times, Politico, CNN, and the Washington Post have published stories now confirming that the contents of the laptop — incriminating emails, photos, documents — are indeed legitimate.

At the time of the original New York Post reporting, most outlets could have easily confirmed the stories were true but instead chose to hide behind a letter issued by 51 intelligence community hacks who admitted they didn’t know if the materials were real but said they ‘appeared to resemble a Russian disinfo operation’ (always Russia, Russia, Russia). Such was their hatred of President Trump.

Now, as even more materials exposing Hunter Biden, James Biden, and Joe Biden as a corrupt (and perhaps lawless) clan are becoming available, Americans who are learning about them for the first time are demanding to know why the institution charged by our founders with keeping them informed didn’t when it came to one of the potentially most important scandals of our time.

And many of the same pro-Democrat media propagandists are still doubling down on the lie, including Anne Applebaum, a writer for The Atlantic, one of the most brazenly left-wing outlets in America.

The Blaze reports that she was confronted with a substantive question regarding the media’s initial reaction to the laptop story at a — get this — “disinformation” conference at the University of Chicago Law School on Wednesday, and she pointedly refused to answer it:

During a Q&A panel at the University of Chicago event, a student asked Applebaum, citing a Media Research Center poll, whether the mainstream media acted “inappropriately” for suppressing and dismissing the Hunter Biden story.

“Do you think the media acted inappropriately when they instantly dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation, and what can be learned from that in ensuring that what we label as disinformation is truly disinformation and not reality?” the student asked.

“My problem with Hunter Biden’s laptop is, I think, totally irrelevant,” Applebaum said.

“I mean, it’s not whether it’s disinformation — I mean, I don’t think Hunter Biden’s business relationships have anything to do with who should be president of the United States,” she continued. “I don’t find it to be interesting, I mean, that would be my problem with that as a major news story.”

Got that? She isn’t interested in the story and she doesn’t think it is any big deal, so therefore, it isn’t.

But that is the response of a political hack, not a journalist, because any indication that a president or his family could be compromised by a “business relationship” with, say, Communist China, is a story. A huge story; and shouldn’t that help ‘inform’ her decision about who should and shouldn’t be president?

And if the name wasn’t Hunter Biden and instead a name ending with ‘Trump’ it would have been widely reported. Very widely.

It is also telling that David Axelrod, a longtime Democratic operative, ended the panel discussion after the very substantive question.

These people know good and well that Hunter Biden is dirty, perverted, and corrupt, and that likely his dad is involved at some level — they just refuse to admit or address it because doing so hurts their political ‘team.’

That’s okay for operatives; it’s not okay for journalists, whose job it is to inform the public, not cherry-pick what is and isn’t an ‘interesting’ story.
