Gabbard Rips Mitt Romney Over ‘Treasonous Lies’ Comment, Tells Him to Apologize or 'Resign'

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has clapped back at Sen. Mitt Romney after the Utah Republican accused her of being a “Russian asset” spewing ‘treasonous’ remarks regarding allegations the U.S. funded bio-labs in Ukraine.

In addition, the Hawaii Democrat implored Romney the RINO to put up or shut up before demanding he “resign” if he can’t produce evidence to prove her wrong.

The back and forth began over the weekend when Romney tweeted, “Tulsi Gabbard is parroting false Russian propaganda. Her treasonous lies may well cost lives.”

The site Patriots For President Trump notes:

Gabbard’s remarks have come after Russia has spread a claim that the U.S. has been funding bio-research labs in Ukraine.

In remarks to a Senate committee last week, State Dept. official Victoria Nuland responded to a direct question about the existence of those labs from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

“Does Ukraine have chemical or biological weapons?” Rubio asked.

“Ukraine has biological research facilities which, in fact, we’re now quite concerned Russian troops, Russian forces may be seeking to gain control of, so we are working with the Ukrainians on how we can prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of Russian forces should they approach,” Nuland stated.

The Biden administration, as well as the Ukrainian government, have vehemently denied that Washington has funded such labs.

But Gabbard clapped back at Romney, bristling at his claim her statement was “traitorous.”

“You have called me a ‘treasonous liar’ for stating the fact that ‘there are 25+ US-funded biolabs in Ukraine which if breached would release & spread deadly pathogens to US/world’ and therefore must be secured in order to prevent new pandemics,” she wrote.

“Bizarrely, you claim that securing these labs (or even calling for securing these labs) is treasonous and will lead to a loss of life, when the exact opposite is obviously true. The spread of pathogens is what will cause the loss of life, not the prevention of such spread.”

Gabbard continued blasting Romney, demanding that he “please provide evidence that what I said is untrue and treasonous. If you cannot, you should do the honorable thing: apologize and resign from the Senate.”

In another tweet, she included a link to a Defense Department Cooperative Threat Reduction Program “fact sheet” on “Biological Threat Reduction Program Activities in Ukraine.”

There have been reports online claiming that the U.S. sponsored ‘bioweapons research’ at several Ukrainian labs, but the U.S. government, the Ukrainian government, and the UN have all vehemently denied that. Also, Gabbard has not made that claim, either.

Continuing, Gabbard quoted CBS “Face The Nation” correspondent David Martin in another tweet, who reportedly said Sunday that a Pentagon official told him the Defense Department is concerned about the existence of bio-labs in Ukraine.

“The concern is that the Russians will seize one of these biomedical research facilities that Ukraine has where they do research on deadly pathogens like botulism and anthrax, seize one of those facilities, weaponize the pathogen, and then blame it on Ukraine and the US, because the US has been providing support for some of the research being done in those facilities,” he said, according to Gabbard.
