Democrat Governor Plans to Spend Millions in Taxpayer Funds on New Abortion Clinic

Democrats rarely miss an opportunity to demonstrate the depravity of their party, as evidenced by plans in one blue state to use millions in precious tax dollars to end life.

As reported by The Daily Caller, Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Wednesday signed an executive order authorizing the expenditure of $10 million in tax money to build an abortion clinic.

The capital outlay of the money for the 2023 legislative session will fund a clinic in Dona Ana County that will provide abortions along with prenatal, labor, and delivery care. In addition, the clinic would provide postpartum care and support along with family planning and care for miscarriages, according to Grisham’s order, which also required the New Mexico Department of Health to conceive a plan to expand abortion services around the state.

The order also directs the Human Services Department to implement policies that will “improve that efficiency and sustainability” of abortion, in addition to other services.

“As more states move to restrict and prohibit access to reproductive care, New Mexico will continue to not only protect access to abortion, but to expand and strengthen reproductive health care throughout the state,” the governor noted in a press release. “Today, I reaffirm my resolve to make sure that women and families in New Mexico – and beyond – are supported at every step of the way.”

Killing an unborn baby is not “reproductive care.” But because Democrats are incapable of being honest about this issue, they have devised their own code language to avoid describing the actual abortion process: Purposefully ending the life of a developing fetus.

The order uses typical left-wing language, describing abortion as an “essential part of reproductive healthcare,” while adding that the procedure should be safe, legal, and — above all — easily accessible. It also said that more women are now relying on the state to preserve the act of abortion as neighboring states move to restrict or ban the procedure altogether, The Daily Caller adds.

“Unfortunately, many of our neighboring states have adopted laws that drastically limit or prohibit access to abortion and other reproductive health care services following the United States Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned almost 50 years of precedent regarding the federal right to reproductive healthcare services,” said the order.

The outlet noted further:

Dona Ana County is located at the very southern point of the state where it borders Mexico. The county is in the center of the state where it does not border its neighboring states, Texas and Arizona. Arizona will either ban abortion after 15 weeks of gestation or enforce an 1800’s law that bans all abortions with very few exceptions. Texas’s trigger law has recently taken effect which outlaws all abortions except in cases threatening the mother’s life.

Grisham is running against GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Ronchetti who advocates for banning the procedure after 15 weeks.

According to the Las Cruces Sun News, New Mexico’s legislature and governor repealed a statutory ban on abortion dating back to 1969 in order to preserve the procedure in the event that Roe v. Wade was overturned, as it was in June by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Mississippi clinic at the center of that court case has since announced a decision to relocate to Las Cruces, N.M., following the SCOTUS ruling.
