Dem Megadonor Soros Gave $2 Million to Help Elect AZ Sheriff Currently Stonewalling Election Audit

Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone has been thwarting the Arizona Senate audit process of the 2020 presidential election at every possible turn. In case anyone thinks Penzone has no bias or political loyalty, try this on for size: He beat out his opponent, incumbent Republican Joe Arpaio thanks to a hefty $2 million donation from extreme progressive liberal George Soros.

Just the News reports:

It was the largest single donation Soros made in a local race in the 2016 election cycle, according to a Politico report at the time. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs, kicked in another $250,000 to the pro-Penzone effort.

The money went to a political action committee, Maricopa Strong, that spent heavily on mailers and TV ads promoting Penzone and knocking Arpaio, nationally known for his stringent immigration enforcement and prosecution by President Obama’s Justice Department.

At a press conference Monday, Penzone said the audit was a waste of his time. “I don’t like politics, I don’t like partisanship, and I absolutely despite political theater,” said Penzone, who added the subpoena to hand over election data was nothing more than “based on a hunch.”

Penzone was one of 7 County members to sign a letter Monday addressed to Senate President Karen Fann who is leading the audit. The letter explains:

“We write in response to your May 12, 2021 letter. We also write in response to the May 12th social media post from the Twitter account, run by you or your designee/s, which accused Maricopa County of ‘deleting a director full of databases from the 2020 election cycle days before the election equipment was delivered to the audit,’ and we on to accuse the County of ‘spoliation of evidence.”

The letter claims “these accusations are false, defamatory, and beneath the dignity of the Senate.” However, the letter also claims that complying with the subpoena would compromise the county’s network and threaten “the security of sensitive, protected and critical data,” from federal law enforcement programs to the health information of county residents.

Arizona Senate Still Battling Maricopa County For Election Integrity

A simple solution in determining if there were any issues in Maricopa County, AZ during the 2020 presidential election would be to grant the Arizona Senate access to the ballots and the machines in order to conduct a forensic audit. Unfortunately, the Maricopa County board will not grant access to the necessary election equipment, claiming the materials are privileged.

Should a court side with the county, an Arizona Senate committee has come up with a backup plan: a proposal which states election equipment and ballots are not protected, which would enable the legislature to issue a subpoena.

The Miner reports:

The Republican-controlled county board has been fighting the Senate’s effort to get access to ballots and election machines since mid-December under a subpoena issued by lawmakers who have questioned President Joe Biden’s win in the state. The board maintains the ballots are secret under law and the state constitution and tabulation machines can’t be compromised by allowing uncertified people to examine them.

The board handed over reams of materials and is doing two audits of their own on the machines to ensure they accurately counted ballots and weren’t hacked.

The Senate fell one vote short of finding the board in contempt on Monday, just days after the county board asked a judge to quash the subpoenas.

Republican Senator Warren Peterson, who recently became chairman of the Judiciary Committee says the new proposal is an “insurance policy” should a judge rule against the Senate.

“They continue to hold the position that we don’t have the authority to investigate and audit the ballots and in this case the equipment,” Peterson said Tuesday. “So this makes clear what we already believe is the law.”

Charlie Kirk sat down with Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar yesterday and discussed the election results in the state and the ongoing audit efforts. Gosar believes there may be a 2-3 percent error rate in the counting of ballots in his state.

Biden DOJ ‘Going to Get Involved’ In Arizona Election Audit

An Arizona elections expert and ABC 15 reporter Garrett Archer broke the news on Wednesday evening that the Biden Department of Justice will be getting involved in the Arizona election audit. Archer tweeted “source at the county says DOJ is going to get involved in some capacity with the #azaudit. #azauditpool.”

Becker News reports:

The report follows upon a big development in the election tonight: A lawsuit settlement is stripping the signature verification process from the forensic audit, all but rendering the audit moot.

“After a lengthy lawsuit that saw the Democrats achieve few victories in their goal of stopping the audit of the 2020 ballots in Maricopa County, Arizona, they have reached a settlement with the firm involved in the audit and the Senate Republicans that will see the firm, Cyber Ninjas, cease verifying the signatures on early voting envelopes with the signatures on file from the voter,” the National File reported.

“With only 9 days left to go before the audit is set to be completed, signature verification will cease immediately,” the report continued.

Last week former President Trump said of the audit being allowed to continue after a judge declined to enforce a temporary restraining order, “Over 100 Democrat lawyers were sent to fight against this audit. The results will be very interesting for the USA and the World to see!”

“Why are the Democrats fighting so hard to hide the facts? I know why, and so does everyone else” added Trump.

Becker News continues:

The Department of Justice may also soon be involved ‘hiding the facts’ of the 2020 election. The DOJ’s intervention in the Arizona election audit would be an unsurprising development, despite it being constitutionally questionable to intervene in a state election process.

The Biden administration has consistently shown hostility to election integrity laws, such as those passed in Georgia and Texas.  In March, Biden called the Georgia election law “Jim Crow in the 21st Century” and “a blatant attack on the Constitution.”

It appears that the Department of Justice may be standing at the ready to conduct an actual “attack on the Constitution.” American citizens are no longer surprised.
