In what can only be described as an embarrassing, sycophantic display of gross media bias (which we are sure to endure a plethora of now that President Trump has left office), CNN’s political director said the lights at the National Mall represent “extensions of Joe Biden’s arms embracing America.”
The Daily Caller reports:
[David] Chalian, who oversees the network’s political coverage, spoke during CNN’s coverage of Biden’s inauguration, which is to take place Wednesday afternoon. Ahead of the inauguration, 400 lights were lit up Tuesday alongside the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial to honor the 400,000 people within America who have died from COVID-19.
Biden and his wife, alongside Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband, attended the memorial event.
“I mean, those lights that are just shooting out from the Lincoln Memorial along the reflecting pool, it’s like almost extensions of Joe Biden’s arms embracing America,” Chalian said.
He continued, “It was a moment where the new president came to town and sort of convened the country in this moment of remembrance, outstretching his arms, and contrast that with that video you just saw of a disgraced president on his way out at his lowest point in his presidency at the very end here, by himself, fighting for his political movement to live on.”
Anyone else reminded of when MSNBC’s Chris Matthews described the “thrill” he got up his leg from listening to then-candidate Barack Obama’s speeches?
Buckle up for another four years of the slobbering love affair the media will have with this new president.
Biden HHS Pick Oversaw Disastrous COVID Nursing Home Policy in Pennsylvania
Republicans in the state, including State Sen. Mastriano, had called for Levine’s resignation
Joe Biden’s pick for assistant Human Health Services (HHS) secretary was responsible for the deadly COVID nursing home policy in Pennsylvania.
Last March, Dr. Rachel Levine, the transgender health secretary of Pennsylvania, directed long-term care facilities to admit new patients who were discharged from hospitals who may have had COVID-19. This was ordered to “to alleviate the increasing burden in the acute care settings.”
As COVID outbreaks ravaged the elderly population in the state, Levine’s own 95-year-old mother had the luxury of being removed from her nursing home and into a “premium hotel.”
“My mother requested and my sister and I as her children comply to move her to another location,” Levine said in a press conference in May. “During the COVID-19 outbreak. My mother is 95 years old. She is very intelligent and more than competent to make her own decisions.”
According to data from the New York Times updated earlier this month, Pennsylvania now ranks second for COVID deaths (9,365) from long-term care facilities in the country, placing the state only behind California, which had 10,134 fatalities. Overall, deaths in Pennsylvania’s long-term care facilities make up 52 percent of all COVID deaths in the state.
Republicans in the state, including State Sen. Doug Mastriano, had called for Levine’s resignation.
“These failings are compounded by being complicit in the virus spreading through our elder care homes, triggered by unscientific and illogical directives, forcing them to readmit COVID-19 patients,” he said. “Let me state this clearly, this order by Secretary Levine is responsible for the deaths of approximately 2,500 of our citizens and displays the gross incompetence of someone unfit for office. The bottom line is Secretary Levine has failed to protect our most vulnerable population.”
In June, Levine defended the nursing home policies put in place and said, “They contracted the virus in the facility. So it doesn’t mean they were bringing it to the facility. The virus was already there.”
Biden released a statement on his nomination of Levine today:
“Dr. Rachel Levine will bring the steady leadership and essential expertise we need to get people through this pandemic — no matter their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — and meet the public health needs of our country in this critical moment and beyond. She is a historic and deeply qualified choice to help lead our administration’s health efforts.”
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf congratulated Levine today, writing on Twitter, “Dr. Levine has been a wise, calm, and dedicated partner during this pandemic and I couldn’t be prouder of the tireless work she’s done to serve Pennsylvanians. She will be missed, but I know she will be a tremendous leader at @HHSGov.”

WATCH: Former Facebook Exec Calls for Deplatforming of OANN, Newsmax
After the disturbing deplatforming of free speech social media website, Parler, a former Facebook executive is now calling for conservative news channels, OANN and Newsmax to be removed by carriers such as Verizon and AT&T.
Speaking on CNN yesterday, former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos suggested the time has come to “turn down the capability of…Conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences.
The Daily Caller reports:
Discussing the ongoing political polarization in America in the wake of the November election and the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, Stamos suggested that since people now “are able to seek out the information that makes them feel good,” an incentive exists for some outlets to “become more and more radical.”
“One of the places you can see this is on the fact that you now have competitors to Fox News on their right, OANN and Newsmax, which are carried by all the major cable networks, who are trying now to outflank Fox on the right because the moment Fox [News] introduced any kind of realism into their reporting, immediately a bunch of people chose to put themselves into a sealed ecosystem,” Stamos said. “They can do that both on cable. They can do it online, and that becomes a huge challenge in figuring out how do you bring people back into the mainstream of fact-based reporting and try to get us back into the same consensual reality.”
This former Facebook employee straight up calls for tech companies to use the same tactics they used against ISIS on conservative competitors and deplatform OAN and Newsmax.

Stamos said social media companies must collaborate together to take on extremism “in the same way they worked on ISIS.”
“There was a collaboration between the tech companies and law enforcement to make it impossible for them to use the internet to recruit and radicalize mostly young Muslim men at the same around the world,” he said. “Now we’re talking about the domestic audience in the United States.”
Stamos said the OANN and Newsmax “problem” will have to be figured out.
“…I’m not sure we need Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and such to be bringing them into tens of millions of homes,” he said.
