'Catholics For Choice' Projects Pro-Abortion Message on DC Basilica on Eve of Annual March For Life

Because the left has no shame and never passes up an opportunity to denigrate our culture, a pro-abortion Catholic org has decided to cast a pall over the annual March For Life even to be held in our nation’s capital on Friday.

Ahead of the event, Catholics for Choice projected a ‘pro-choice’ message onto the largest Roman Catholic church in North America: the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., just as a prayer vigil was taking place inside for mothers and unborn babies who have been aborted.

“Pro-Choice Catholics You Are Not Alone,” the organization wrote in a message.

With this year’s theme being “Equality Begins in the Womb,” the March for Life will advocate for the end of abortion and commemorate the over 62 million lives that have been lost since Roe v. Wade, the hallmark Supreme Court case that legalized abortion on a national level.

Ashley Wilson, the Director of Communications & Strategy at Catholics for Choice, noted on Twitter, “I know that my faith teaches Catholics to honor personal conscience. And yet, the Catholic hierarchy seeks to polarize pro-choice Catholics and villainize people who make the moral choice to have abortions.

“I am tired of feeling shame and stigma for being a pro-choice Catholic. And I’m not here for people to judge my own personal relationship with God,” she added.

Needless to say, several social media users took her to task — rightfully, by the way — for staking out a position on life that is decidedly anti-Catholic.

“You’re not a Catholic. Catholicism is a doctrine you don’t get to select the bits you don’t want to believe,” one wrote.

“Repent. Seriously. Go to confession. If you stray this far from Church teachings, you need to re-evaluate on what you base calling yourself Catholic on. Hate the sin, not the sinner, of course, but you’re not even hating the sin. There’s no option to be a pro-choice Catholic,” another wrote.

“‘Pro-choice Catholic’ is an oxymoron Ashley. Life-created is a gift from God; not to be terminated by us,” said another.

Said another user: “Just keep convincing yourself that the little life in the womb is not a baby but just a collection of cells. You can rationalize killing ‘it’ if you put out of your mind that it could be a baby with a soul. That’s how people in power get people to do horrible things to others.”

“Jesus said, ‘Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck & to be drowned in the depths of the sea.’ Imagine what Jesus would have said if someone had asked him about child sacrifice,” added New York Catholic Radio.
