Arts vs. Dems: NYC Theater Groups File Lawsuit Against Cuomo, de Blasio for Violating First and Fourteenth Amendments

It’s not often that the performing arts is upset with Democrats, but anything goes when up against a global pandemic

It’s not often that the performing arts is upset with Democrats, but anything goes when up against a global pandemic. A coalition of small theater and comedy club owners have filed a federal lawsuit against Defendants Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio for their handling of the capacity limitations throughout COVID-19 restrictions.

“This civil rights lawsuit seeks to vindicate the constitutional rights of free speech and equal protection for the Plaintiff theaters and comedy clubs, which have been subject to unequal closure order for more than a year” the lawsuit states. The plaintiffs describe themselves as “small venue theaters and comedy clubs with seating capacity of 199 seats or less. Plaintiffs are all located in Manhattan.”

The suit accuses Cuomo and de Blasio of violating the First and Fourteenth Amendments through their “Executive Orders” which “continue to discriminate against Plaintiffs by singling out theaters and comedy clubs for more restrictive treatment than similarly situated venues, based on the content of speech that theaters and comedy clubs host and the identity of the speaker as a theater or comedy club.”

Is it the COVID-19 regulations relate to capacity, the lawsuit states:

Restaurants and bars with ‘live music,’ jazz supper clubs, night clubs, and event venues for weddings, christenings, and bar mitzvahs in New York City have been allowed to reopen up to 50% capacity with no numerical limit on the number of attendees…

Houses of worship are similarly allowed to reopen up to 50% capacity with no numerical limit on the number of attendees…

But small venue theaters and comedy clubs are only allowed to open at 33% capacity with numerical limits on the number of attendees.

Plaintiffs are bringing the case to “seek declaratory and injunctive relief to remedy Defendants violations of the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Plaintiffs seek only to reopen on equal terms as other similar venues, without regard to the content of the speech or the identity of the speakers that they host.”

"Kids in Cages" Was Created Under the Obama Administration

As much as Joe Biden would like to avoid it, the policy of detaining children happened under his Administration

Michelle Obama and Joe Biden would like you to believe that children being separated from their family at the border is a Trump policy, this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The have been several instances now when Democrats, trying to prove their point, used photographs of children in cages to attack Trump only to find out that the pictures were taken during the Obama Administration.

As reported in USA Today:

In a 2019 interview with nonpartisan think tank The Aspen Institute, Jeh Johnson, Barack Obama’s Homeland Security secretary, told NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly that the “cages” predate the Trump administration.

“Chain-link barriers, partitions, fences, cages, whatever you want to call them were not invented on January 20, 2017,” Johnson said.

Kelly asked Johnson about a 2014 photograph of him touring an Arizona facility for migrants along with former Gov. Jan Brewer. The picture is archived on the website for the Arizona Capitol Times.

That image was also part of another social media meme accusing Michelle Obama of lying about “kids in cages” during her DNC speech. Facebook user Eulalia Maria Jimenez posted it to her page on Aug. 18. Johnson is circled in red in the image.

Johnson explained the picture was taken during a spike in unaccompanied minors crossing the southern border of the country.

“The kids are being housed in the same facilities built under the Obama administration. If you want to call them cages, call them cages. But if the left wants to call them cages, and the Democrats want to call them cages, then they have to accept the fact that they were built and funded in FY ’15, and I was there,” Homan said, according to a transcript.
The Associated Press reported in late 2019 that an unprecedented 69,550 migrant children were held in U.S. custody over that year.

But Michelle Obama’s assertion that the Trump administration tore children from their families and threw them into cages alludes to “a frequent and distorted point made widely by Democrats,” according to the AP. The facilities designed during the Obama administration to temporarily hold migrants were used for a similar purpose by President Trump, the AP also concluded.

This information has a lot of trouble reaching a Democrat audience when they are fed constant lies from main stream media.

Comedian Chris Rock Says Democratic Leadership Let Coronavirus ‘Pandemic Come In’

Comedian Chris Rock has a surprising message for Democratic leadership; they were too busy trying to impeach Trump to focus on the coronavirus pandemic. Rock said they let the “pandemic come in.” In an interview with the New York Times, Rock went all-in on his assessment of 2020. While he did not have anything positive to say about Trump, he certainly had plenty to chastise Democrats for.

Rock compared the current government to the movie The Last Emperor, in which the emperor of China was only 5-years old. “There’s a kid and he’s the king. So I’m like, it’s all the Democrats’ fault. Because you knew that the emperor was 5 years old. And when the emperor’s 5 years old, they only lead in theory” said Rock.

And the lack of leadership Rock was most vocal on had to deal with the spread of COVID-19. Speaking about Democrats, Rock said, “Their thing was, ‘we’re going to get him impeached,’ which was never going to happen. You let the pandemic come in. Yes, we can blame Trump, but he’s really the 5-year-old.”

As for Republicans, Rock said they “tell outright lies” but it’s Democrats that “leave out key pieces of the truth that would lead to a more nuanced argument.” In conclusion, “it’s all fake news” he said. The Sun, which reported on Rock’s interview with the Times, brings up facts that support Rock’s accusations.

“Democrats were focused on impeaching Trump in January when the coronavirus began spreading in China,” wrote The Sun. Another gem the Sun reminds us of is when “Pelosi was shown on television ripping apart a copy of Trump’s State of the Union address, which noted that the White House ‘will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from [the coronavirus] threat.”

Despite the fact that a 5-year-old emperor would likely not be nominated for not one, but two Nobel Peace Prizes obviously escaped Rock. At least he has an understanding of the damage the Democrats’ fanatical obsession with pursuing a Trump impeachment was for our nation.
